Energy Efficiency in action: Equipping SMEs for a Green Transition

On 16 October, Eurochambres and the EnergyEfficiency4SME project will host the “Energy Efficiency in Action: Equipping SMEs for a Green Transition” event in Brussels. The main objective is to bring together SMEs, policymakers, and stakeholders to discuss how the knowledge, tools, and methodologies developed can continue to drive SME energy efficiency beyond the project’s lifetime.

This is the final event of the project that aimed at helping SMEs improve energy performance from some of Europe’s most energy-intensive sectors: accommodation and food services, agri-food manufacturing, and metalworking.

Energy efficiency is not only a cost-saving measure but also a strategic driver of competitiveness, resilience, and sustainability. For Europe’s SMEs, improving energy performance is key to remaining competitive while contributing to the EU’s climate neutrality objectives under the European Green Deal.

The EnergyEfficiency4SMEs project, a 36-month initiative involving 23 partners from 10 countries, has been dedicated to empowering SMEs in some of Europe’s most energy-intensive sectors: accommodation and food services, agri-food manufacturing, and metalworking. While large companies are required under the Energy Efficiency Directive to carry out regular energy audits, SMEs often face significant barriers to implementing audit recommendations – from limited technical expertise and lack of financing knowledge to uncertainty about actual savings and payback times.
